The Nehemiah Company broke ground Feb. 23 on Talia, a new home community that will bring approximately 2,500 new homes to families, the city of Mesquite, and the Forney Independent School District.

The community encompasses approximately 600 acres and is located along FM 2757 south of Interstate 20. Pre-sales should begin by year’s end. See Talia on the map.

“We want Talia to be a unique community where families can thrive holistically, ” said Robert Kembel, President of The Nehemiah Company. "We envision Talia to be a place where residents can renew each day, flourish and experience kindness, grace and joy through connection to this place and the people in it.”

The Nehemiah Company has selected builders Cadence Homes, Chesmar Homes, David Weekley Homes, Drees Custom Homes, and Highland Homes to offer floor plans ranging from townhomes through a selection of diverse homesites.

Included in Talia’s master plan are pocket parks and miles of trails, including nearly three miles of unpaved nature trails and another three miles of a 12-foot-wide trail that will wind around a community lake. A park along the lake will feature a yoga lawn, fireplace and hammock grove. Residents will also be able to enjoy an amenity center with a resort-style pool. Schools within the Forney Independent School District will be another plus, Kembel said. See Talia's community plan here.

“Forney ISD has created an engaging and compassionate environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally,” he said. "Academics are rigorous and the opportunity to explore a variety of topics is broad. It is exactly the kind of experience parents want for their children.”

The Nehemiah Company is also developing Karis, a 565-acre community in Crowley, TX. Sales recently began in Karis, a name that reminds us to strive for a place of good will, loving-kindness and grace, Kembel said.

“Karis and Talia comprise the best-in-class for master-planned communities,” Kembel said. “With the close-out of Viridian where our design standards were first introduced, we have been able to show the market something unique and more focused on the lives of those wanting a community with connection."

The Nehemiah Company is also developing the luxury apartment community of Arlington Commons and manages the master-planned community of Viridian, both in Arlington. Viridian, Karis and now Talia are great examples of what stakeholder collaboration can do on the local level by bringing great communities to families, Kembel said.
